Hello there! My name's Mikka and I come from Uganda. Growing up entrenched in the world of competitive swimming, I nurtured competitive spirit from a young age. My passions; swimming, photography and physics continuously drove me to expand my knowledge, experience, and interpersonal skills. With a strong background in leadership and problem-solving and creativity as my high school's Sports Secretary during COVID-19, I’m confident in the ingenious ideas and effective solutions I generate. Work History

June 2021 - September 2021

INTERN, BROWNSTRIDGE DESIGN & BUILD

As a member of the media team I designed company posters to be shared on the company social media platforms. The role required communication and collaborative skills to enable coordination with my media teammates for constructive design criticism, and my supervisors for selection and implementation of my ideas. In this role, I experienced the workplace environment, learnt to present and lobby for my ideas and seek constructive feedback.

June 2018 - September 2019

TEACHING ASSISTANT, GESAM DAYCARE & KINDERGARTEN

Throughout my high school term breaks, I was a teaching assistant and swim instructor at Gesam Day-care and Kindergarten on voluntary basis. In my role as a Math & English teacher’s assistant for P2 & P3 (6 and 7 year olds), I was responsible for planning and executing lesson and concept reviews. Additionally, I organized test preparation and mock up sessions for the young students. My secondary role was as a swimming instructor for all classes, in this role I was responsible for developing the students’ swimming skill and impart the lifesaving stroke knowledge to prevent drowning.

MEDIA PRODUCTION, WIZARTS MEDIA

In my role as part of the media production team at Wizarts Media I created visuals for Wizarts projects using Adobe Illustrator and recorded accompanying voice tracks. This experience taught me the importance of versatility in the workplace. Working with a small elite team on a project, I learnt to be adaptive to the demands of the situation and improved y skill acquisition speed.

IGCSE,
GEMS CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

I excelled at both academics and sports, and was awarded 100% scholarship at GEMs Cambridge International School, where I studied for 2 years and completed my Cambridge GCSE with an average grade of A across 9 subjects; Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, French, Geography, Computer Science and Business Studies.

September 2020 - June 2022

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA,
AGA KHAN HIGH SCHOOL

I attended Aga Khan High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. I studied Business Management, Physics and Chemistry at Higher Level along with Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, English Language & Literature and French B at Standard Level. I held the position of School Sports representative on the Student Council and developed a policy document to guide COVID-19 safe sports during my term with 8 subordinates to implement creative socially distant activities for the 2020 annual sports day.

I am an aspiring CFA Finance & Investment Advisor/Portfolio Manager, I have applied to study a Bachelor of Business Science in Financial Engineering to enable me to advise young people and entrepreneurs in Uganda on how to make viable investment decisions, manage these investments, and bear current and potential future risk in mind. I consider the ability to asses risk and develop strategies in financial markets a salient aspect of business saturated with skills and methodologies useful in my own personal life.
